Ramsdell records no-hitter Washington Academy beats Calais in opener

EAST MACHIAS – Jason Ramsdell pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Washington Academy Raiders to an 11-0 schoolboy baseball win over the Calais Blue Devils in the mutual opener Friday.

Ramsdell’s brother, Jeff Ramsdell, hit a grand slam to propel the Raiders offense. Yung Soo Kim and Dan Seamans each doubled for the winners.

At East Machias, Steph Perry collected a double, single and knocked in three runs as the Blue Devils rolled.

Darcy Gillespie had two singles and an RBI while Danielle O’Brien added a triple.

Mary Mawhinney doubled and Justine Ramsdell scored on a passed ball for the Raiders.
