In response to the article, “Judge questions Border Patrol use of Old Town checkpoint” (BDN, April 9-10).

I traveled I-95 twice that day and was stopped both times. I found the Border Patrol very courteous and I welcome being stopped.

If this is what it takes to keep us safe and drugs off our highways and our towns and cities, and out of children’s hands, I welcome them to be out there every day.

I wonder why the Maine Civil Liberties Union would even think there was something wrong with pulling someone over if they thought drugs were being transported down our highways?

I wonder if the terrorists who came through the Portland International Jetport prior to 9-11 came down I-95 instead and had been stopped, what the results would have been, and would the MCLU be concerned with their welfare?
