Sips of South America

Looking to start your week with a little spice? Visit Opus on Monday, April 25, for a “Wines of South America” wine dinner. Chef Roger Gelis will prepare a six-course meal paired with wines from Argentina and Chile. The wines will be available for purchase at State Street Wine Cellar in Bangor. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Monday, and costs $65 per person plus tax and gratuity. For information or reservations, call 945-5100.

Roll on

Now here?s an idea ? Sur La Table?s pie crust roller made of silicon, so the dough won?t stick. For many bakers, that alone will be worth the $49 price tag. The roller is available online at www.surlatable.com.

Veg out

Just in time for farmers market season comes Cheryl Wixson?s spring cooking class, Cooking for the Fit & Healthy Lifestyle, which focuses on delicious ways to get your fruits and vegetables. Wixson?s classes blend the sensory pleasures of cooking with the satisfaction of nutritious eating. The six-session course costs $395, which includes expenses for five meals, and is offered at Wixson?s professional kitchen on West Broadway in Bangor. The first session begins tonight, with a second session starting May 9. Space is limited. For information or to register, visit www.cherylwixsonskitchen.org.
