BELFAST – Hunter Lovins, a world-renowned leader in sustainability policy and strategies, will discuss developing sustainable businesses in Maine at a University of Maine Hutchinson Center lunch program.

The program, open to the public and sponsored by Mainebiz, College of the Atlantic, Unity College and MBNA, is part of a series of sustainable business programs produced by Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility (MEBSR).

The program will take place 11:30-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. Registration is required.

Lovins is the founder and president of Natural Capitalism Inc. a Boulder, Colo.-based company that helps businesses, governments, academic institutions and international communities become simultaneously more profitable and environmentally-socially sustainable.

Co-author of “Natural Capitalism, Creating the Next Industrial Revolution,” Lovins will give an overview on what natural capitalism is and discuss the latest thinking since her book was published, including a new tool, “The Sustainability Helix,” designed to help organizations of any size, in any sector, become fully sustainable enterprises.

Lovins co-founded the Rocky Mountain Institute with Amory Lovins in 1982 and led that organization as its chief executive officer for strategy until 2002, when she left to form Natural Capitalism Inc. Lovins also will be the featured speaker at MEBSR’s annual Spring Leadership Forum in Portland on the evening of April 26.

To register for the lunch program, contact MEBSR at 338-8908 or e-mail info@mebsr.org. Registration costs are $15 for MEBSR members and $25 for nonmembers.
