BANGOR – Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 1111 Union St. early Sunday morning.

According to Lt. Timothy Reid of the Criminal Investigation Department, a white male with a handgun approached two McDonald’s employees, a man and a woman, as they were leaving the restaurant at around 2:30 a.m.

The man threatened the employees and took an undisclosed amount of money from the restaurant. No shots were fired during the incident, and the employees were not injured.

The suspect was described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 30. He was reported to be wearing a ski mask and a dark-colored jacket with bluejeans. He left on foot, and a K-9 team with the Maine State Police assisted with the tracking effort.

As of Sunday evening, the robbery remained under investigation. Anyone who may have seen anything in the area of the Union Street McDonald’s during the time the robbery occurred is urged to contact the Bangor Police Department at 947-7384.
