BANGOR – Adam Sheehan’s two-run single, Aaron Brideau’s RBI single and Jason Harvey’s RBI double keyed a four-run second inning that helped Husson upend Bates College of Lewiston 6-4 in Tuesday baseball action at Winkin Complex.

Barrett Dionne threw eight innings of seven-hit, four-run ball to pick up the win, striking out four and walking one. James Gray pitched a perfect ninth for the save with two strikeouts.

Chris McInnis had three singles for the Eagles and Sheehan, Billy Kane and Kyle Mathieu had two singles each.

USM splits twinbill

At Plymouth, N.H., Melissa Henderson pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out eight batters to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 5-0 win over Plymouth State University, but the Panthers came back behind Kim Jeffs to take the second game 6-0.

In the first game, sophomore Christen Lachappelle of Farmingdale had a double, two singles and two runs to pace the 17-14-1 Huskies. In the second game, Jeffs yielded just one hit – a single in the fifth by freshman Laura Pratt from Greene – and struck out 11 batters.
