New nuclear danger

For many years we have had nuclear missiles aimed at targets in Russia, and Russia has had missiles aimed at us. Also, for many years Dr. Helen Caldicott, especially, has warned about what would result if there was a nuclear war.

The title of Caldicott’s latest book is “The New Nuclear Danger.” In the preface, she states that on September 2001 our administration raised the country’s nuclear alert to DEFCON 2 – the highest state of alert. Russia almost certainly responded in kind.

Thousands of nuclear weapons stood poised on hair-trigger alert, ready to be launched by the president of either country with a decision time of three minutes!

Why are any nuclear missiles anywhere aimed at fellow humans? One accidental launch of one missile could lead to many being launched by both Russia and the United States.

This situation must not continue – it must be remedied right now.
