Anderson leads unbeaten SAHS past Katahdin

STACYVILLE – Zach Austin cranked a two-run home run and Adam Anderson added two singles, a double and two RBIs to lead the undefeated Southern Aroostook Warriors to a 10-0 schoolboy baseball win over the Katahdin Cougars Wednesday.

Travis Brooker chipped in with a triple, single and RBI for the winners and Drew Edwards added a single and double.

Jordan Qualey singled in the fifth for the Cougars.

At Hodgdon, Trevor Tompkins smacked a three-run double and Jeremy Baker struck out 12 batters in five innings as the Hornets rolled.

Josh Chamberlin and Lucas Belanger had two singles apiece for Ashland and Kevin Baker tripled.

Jordan Quinn had four singles to lead the Hawks.

Madawaska 12, Limestone 3

At Limestone, Kenny Sirois and Max Bergeron each had a double and a single, while Sirois had three RBIs and Bergeron had two for the Owls.

Scott Chasse singled twice for Madawaska.

Andrew Kirchner’s first-inning single was the lone hit by for Limestone-Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

At Danforth, Jason Thompson hit a two-run single and three Washburn pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout.

Limestone 15, Madawaska 14

At Limestone, Julie Peers’ wind-blown single to center field drove in two runs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Eagles the victory.

Emily O’Neal paced the Limestone offense with a 5-for-5 effort that included three singles, two doubles and three RBIs. Crystal Silva added two singles, a double and three RBIs, Megan Pelletier singled twice and Peers doubled.

Sarah Nadeau doubled and drove in three runs for the Owls and Beth Gerard singled twice.

At Danforth, Sarah Davis had two singles and four RBIs to lead the Washburn Beavers past the Vikings.

Amber Palmer had a triple, a single, and two RBIs for the Beavers.

Jodi Crone had three singles and three RBIs for East Grand.

At Dyer Brook, righthander Chelsea Collier allowed only one hit in five innings, struck out five and walked two as Southern Aroostook defeated Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Jordan Sholler singled twice and drove in two runs for the winners and Audrey Charette added a double, single and RBI.

Jessica Grew had an RBI single for Central Aroostook.

Ashland 22, Hodgdon 3

At Hodgdon, Ashland scored 15 runs in the top of the first inning and went on to the five-inning victory.

Beth Chamberlain had four singles and four RBIs for the reigning Eastern Maine Class D champs. Ashley Nemer had three singles, Whitney Flint had two singles and four RBIs, and Ashlee Peters and winning pitcher Pam Spooner added two singles each.

Sara Brewer doubled for Hodgdon.

At Woodland, Courtney Cochran had a double, triple and plated five runs as the Dragons outslugged the Bulldogs.

Kayla Kochendoerfer added two singles for Woodland.

Anna Thompson had two doubles and two RBIs while Stephanie Whitman singled twice and knocked in a pair for Machias. Katie Stephens notched two singles, a double and drove in a run.

Jonesport-Beals 32, Shead 15

At Eastport, Jennie Durkee laced a three-run triple as the Royals rolled to the win.

Kristi Smith collected a two-run triple and a pair of two-run singles for Jonesport-Beals.

Whitney Vincent had a double, single and three RBIs for the Tigers while Celia Cummings notched two singles and two RBIs.
