WOODLAND – Courtney Cochran doubled, tripled and drove in five runs as the Woodland Dragons defeated the Machias Bulldogs 11-8 in high school softball action Wednesday.

Kayla Kochendoerfer added two singles for Woodland.

Anna Thompson had two doubles and two RBIs while Stephanie Whitman singled twice and knocked in a pair for Machias. Katie Stephens notched two singles, a double and drove in a run.

At Danforth, Sarah Davis had two singles and four RBIs to lead the Washburn Beavers past the Vikings.

Amber Palmer had a triple, a single, and two RBIs for the Beavers.

Jodi Crone had three singles and three RBIs for East Grand.

At Eastport, Jennie Durkee laced a three-run triple as the Royals rolled to the win.

Kristi Smith collected a two-run triple and a pair of two-run singles for Jonesport-Beals.

Whitney Vincent had a double, single and three RBIs for the Tigers while Celia Cummings notched two singles and two RBIs.

At Husson College in Bangor, Gwen Wadleigh spun a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Crusaders won the mutual opener.

Rachel Stearns laced two singles and drove in a run while Hilary Laferriere had three singles for Bapst. Gwen Carter tripled.

Sarah Anderson’s single was the Ponies’ lone hit.

At Danforth, Jason Thompson hit a two-run single and three Washburn pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout.

At Eastport, Josh Francis hit a three-run triple to spark an eight-run first-inning uprising that led the undefeated Tigers to the five-inning victory.

Francis also had an RBI single for Shead, while Cody Bulmer hit a two-run triple and a double; Mike Cummings had two singles and two RBIs; and Jacob Stanley also singled twice.

Aaron Sullivan and Derek Maloney combined to pitch a five-hitter.

Tim Holmes paced Jonesport-Beals with a two-run single, and Reggie Mitchell singled twice.

Corey Drost and Shey Gardner each had two singles for the Lynx.

At Corinth, winning pitcher Mike Burnett capped a two-out, five-run rally in the fourth inning with a grand slam to pace Piscataquis Community High of Guilford to its win.

Burnett also had a run-scoring single; Shane Tracy had three singles and two RBIs and Wayne Clukey and Richie Tompkins had two singles each.

Kurt Smith had two singles and two RBIs for Central and Colby Brown doubled.

Tyler Thompson also had a two-run single and RBI double for Lee Academy. Chris King tallied two singles and two RBIs while Kent Doane knocked a double, single and plated a run.

Ryan Weston doubled and Josh Frost singled for the Patriots.
