BANGOR – Travis Tripp tossed a three-hit shutout, walking just one and striking out four, as the Husson Eagles won the first game of a doubleheader en route to a sweep of Bowdoin College of Brunswick on Wednesday at Winkin Sports Complex.
Husson won the opener 3-0 and took the nightcap in a slugfest 18-11.
In the first game, Jason Harvey and Chris McInnis each had an RBI single to give Tripp the only run support he’d need. Kyle Mathieu added a pair of singles while Aaron Brideau doubled.
Jared Lemieux, John Lawrie, and Jon Koperniak all singled for Bowdoin.
In the second game, the Eagles scored six runs in the fourth and sixth innings to turn a 9-6 deficit into an 18-9 lead.
Sean Brawn had two doubles, a single, and six RBIs to pace the Husson offense. Bill Kane hit a two-run single and Steve Estes a two-run double.
Chris Bucci had a double, two singles, and an RBI to spark the Polar Bears. Ricky Leclerc had two sacrifice flies and an RBI single.
