SWANVILLE – Toddy Pond School is inviting interested families to enjoy up to a week’s worth of free enrollment during its Open House the week of May 9-13.
There will be a wide range of indoor and outdoor learning activities during the week. Traditional course work will be integrated into each day, except during Wednesday’s Enrichment Day, to give pupils a fuller sense of what school is like at Toddy Pond.
Pupils will be writing, reading and calculating every day, even though it may not always seem obvious to the children.
Pupils should bring a pair of shoes for inside and boots suitable for being outside in possibly wet conditions. They should also bring hats and jackets for being outside in case of light rain, healthful snacks for the morning break, and lunches every day, except Tuesday and Friday.
Toddy Pond School is an independent kindergarten through eighth grade field studies school, with an emphasis on hands-on learning.
With the guidance of their teachers and mentors, pupils construct their own knowledge through research projects conducted during adventure-based expeditions to Maine’s islands, lakes, rivers and mountains.
Free registration is available for any or all of the five days, as enrollment space allows. Call 338-3848 to reserve space for your child.
