Stolen SpongeBob found in Oxford

OXFORD – A giant inflatable SpongeBob SquarePants that disappeared from a Burger King roof in Gorham last year is in police custody after being found drooped in a patch of woods, officials said.

A woman found a battered and deflated SpongeBob on Sunday while walking in the woods. She called Oxford police, who retrieved the balloon and drove it back to the station.

Dozens of 8-foot-tall SpongeBob SquarePants balloons were stolen from the roofs of Burger Kings from Florida to Maine last fall.
