Flooding to continue in New Brunswick

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Water levels in some parts of the St. John River were expected to decrease this week, but flooding in and around Fredericton that has forced some people from their homes is expected to continue.

Water began rising over the river’s banks last week, caused by heavy spring rainfall that started Wednesday.

The water level in Fredericton was 7.35 meters (about 22 feet) above sea level Sunday at 11 a.m. and was expected to start decreasing, reaching 7.2 meters on Monday. Some local streets were closed and people were seen using canoes to get around.
