Burleigh sparks Stearns victory

MILLINOCKET – Jordan Burleigh allowed just two runs and four walks through five innings while striking out 10 to lead the Stearns Minutemen to an 11-5 high school baseball victory over the Sumner Tigers Monday.

Ryan Bouchard hit three singles and drove in a run for the Minutemen. Matt Wark and George Surette each had two singles and an RBI and D.J. Charette added two singles.

Jeff Burditt hit an RBI double for Sumner of East Sullivan and Victor Jacques singled twice.

At Thorndike, Patrick Howell pitched the shutout by allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out six for Lincoln Academy.

Lucas Searscott drove in the winning run on a two-out single in the fourth inning for Lincoln Academy. Joe Clark doubled and singled and scored the run and Howell also singled.

Mike Light doubled for Mount View and John Wentworth singled. Mike Mayer allowed just one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five.

At Lincoln, Bryan Berry allowed only three hits and struck out six to lead the Lynx by the Piscataquis Community Pirates of Guilford.

Dylan Hanscom scored the winning run on an error in the fifth when he singled, advanced on an error, and stole third.

Cory Kimball chipped in with two singles and an RBI for the winners.

Mike Burnett hit a solo homer for PCHS and hard-luck losing pitcher Roy Burdin added a double and sacrifice fly.

At Lee, senior righthander Gerry Worster improved to 2-0 as he allowed only two hits in five innings while striking out 10 to lead the Pandas.

Tyler Thompson and B.J. Crocker each singled twice and drove in a run for the winners and Everett Houghton had a two-run double.

Jake Crosby notched an RBI single for PVHS.

At Milo, Levi Nickerson pitched the no-hitter by walking four and striking out 11 to earn the win for Central of Corinth.

Mike Julian hit two triples and two singles to drive in runs for Central. Joey Kane had two doubles and a single with four RBIs and Danny Kane added two singles with an RBI.

Ryan Andrews walked and scored a run for Penquis.

At East Millinocket, Tim McCarthy had three singles and three RBIs to lead Dexter.

Sam Bowers hit two singles to drive in two runs for the Tigers. Eric Day had three singles and an RBI and Ryan Martin had two singles with an RBI.

Chris Beaumont had two singles with two RBIs for Schenck and Nick Bishop hit two singles.

At Brewer, Kevin McAvoy slammed two doubles and a single with an RBI to lead Brewer.

Brad Brown doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Witches and Matt Grimes added two singles and two RBIs.

Josh Marcho doubled and singled for Old Town and Nathan Lonko singled twice. Jarrett Lukas and Chris Brewer both had an RBI single.

John Bapst 3, Orono 1

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium, lefty Brian Roach tossed a four-hitter, striking out six and walking three, and Sean Snyder hit a two-run single in the first inning as John Bapst triumphed.

George Keefe’s wind-blown double and an error preceded Snyder’s base hit. Roach aided his cause with an RBI fielder’s choice in the second.

Tony Raymond had two singles for Orono and Travis Dunton hurled a seven-hitter.

At Millinocket, Deanna Michaud hit a solo homer and singled and Dayna Somers added a two-run triple to lead Stearns.

Casey Freeman chipped in with three singles for the winners and Hilary Arsenault added two singles.

Jody Pinkham tripled, singled and drove in two runs for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Milo, Alisa Libby earned the shutout by allowing just four hits while striking out 11 for Central of Corinth.

Traci Underhill doubled twice to drive in two runs for Central and Lindsay Mitchell singled and scored two runs.

Kylie Palmer doubled for Penquis.

At Lincoln, the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx cranked out 13 hits to roll by the Piscataquis Community Pirates of Guilford.

Shannon Pietras went 4-for-4 with four singles and an RBI for the winners and Bree Hanscom added two doubles, a single and RBI. Cami Cousineau chipped in with two singles and drove in three runs and Jordan McCafferty doubled, singled, and had an RBI.

Meaghan Tweedie singled twice for PCHS and Kristi Levesque doubled.

At O’Keefe Softball Complex in Bangor, Racheal Stevens led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, went to second after a walk, and scored the winning run on a fielding error.

Freshman Devan Richard had two singles, two stolen bases, and two runs for the John Bapst Crusaders.

Emily Balaban had a double, single and an RBI for the Red Riots.

At Lee, Shelby Pickering hit a three-run home run and a two-run double to lead Lee Academy to the win.

Aarika Ritchie doubled and singled for Lee and Marci Moors had two singles with an RBI.

Ashley Dawson had three singles with an RBI for Penobscot Valley of Howland and Tiffany Brown doubled and singled with two RBIs. Jamie Milton had a single with two RBIs and Randy Rackley added two singles.

At East Millinocket, Nikki Chapman went 4-for-5 with three singles, a double and an RBI as the Tigers rolled.

Julia Lockhard hit three singles and drove in two runs for Dexter. Michelle Chapman added a double and a single.

Robin Larlee paced the Wolverines with a double, a single and an RBI. Melissa Rideout hit three singles and Ashley Peabody chipped in with two singles.

At Brewer, Jordan McLain allowed just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 to lead Brewer past Old Town.

Katie Quimby recorded two singles and three RBIs for the Witches and Christine Thoms added a double and a single with an RBI.

Monica Hussey doubled and singled for Old Town and Amanda Littlefield had a single and an RBI.
