SEARSPORT – Righthander Matt Nickerson beat lefty Danny Hilts to lead the Searsport Vikings to a 3-1 high school baseball win over the George Stevens Academy Eagles, the defending two-time state Class C champs.

Searsport scored a pair of second-inning runs on Sean Johnson’s squeeze bunt and Ryan Shute’s two-out bunt single. Nickerson and Hilts both threw six-hitters. Nickerson struck out five and walked three. Hilts struck out eight and walked one.

Josh Nickerson had two singles for Searsport.

Lucas Marks doubled and singled and knocked in the run for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and Blake Weseel singled twice.

At Woodland, righty Adam Hunt struck out all nine hitters he faced and Steve Newell hit a three-run homer to pace Woodland past East Grand of Danforth.

Newell also had a base hit while Donald Phelps and Craig Moody each had a double and two singles and two RBIs. Corey Townsend pitched two scoreless innings after Hunt.

Brent Byers and Josh Barnes had the only East Grand hits.

At Thorndike, Patrick Howell pitched the shutout by allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out six for Lincoln Academy.

Lucas Searscott drove in the winning run on a two-out single in the fourth inning for Lincoln Academy. Joe Clark doubled and singled and scored the run and Howell also singled.

Mike Light doubled for Mount View and John Wentworth singled. Mike Mayer allowed just one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five.

At Eastport, Nick Martinez hit a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning to drive in Derek Maloney and give Shead the victory.

Josh Francis had two doubles and a single with two RBIs for Shead. Maloney allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five.

Jeff Ramsdell hit an RBI double for Washington Academy of East Machias and James Ramsdell added an RBI single. James Ramsdell allowed just three runs on six hits and one walk and struck out eight.

Tony Gilmore had two singles and an RBI while Jon Walsh added two singles for Belfast.

At Harrington, Matt Tenan hit four singles to knock in four runs and power Narraguagus to the win.

At Millinocket, Jordan Burliegh allowed just two runs and four walks through five innings while striking out 10 to lead Stearns to victory.

Ryan Bouchard hit three singles and drove in a run for the Minutemen. Matt Wark and George Surette each had two singles and an RBI and D.J. Charette added two singles.

Jeff Burditt hit an RBI double for Sumner of East Sullivan and Victor Jacques singled twice.

At Bangor’s Mansfield Stadium, lefty Brian Roach tossed a four-hitter, striking out six and walking three, and Sean Snyder hit a two-run single in the first inning as John Bapst triumphed.

George Keefe’s wind-blown double and an error preceded Snyder’s base hit. Roach aided his cause with an RBI fielder’s choice in the second.

Tony Raymond had two singles for Orono and Travis Dunton hurled a seven-hitter.

At Woodland, Tiffany Wormell tripled, doubled and singled and knocked in five runs as Woodland beat East Grand of Danforth.

Lacey Gillespie had four singles and drove in three runs and and Eryn Crowe had two singles and three RBIs for the Dragons. Courtney Cochran had a three-run double.

Lisha Dodge tripled and doubled and drove in three runs for East Grand and Jackie Dodge singled twice and had an RBI.

At East Machias, Mary Mawhinney hit a double and two singles to drive in five runs to lead Washington Academy.

Adrianne Merritt hit a triple, double, and a single to knock in four runs for the Raiders and Lauren Finn had a triple, two doubles, and a single with three RBIs. Carilla Fritz hit a two-run inside-the-park home run.

Celia Cummings had a triple and four RBIs for Shead of Easport and Skylar Richardson drove in two runs.

At Belfast, Laura Berry’s bases-loaded infield single to the shortstop hole with no outs in the bottom of the eighth delivered Nicole Hubbard with the winning run.

Singles by Hubbard and Jill Ross, Ross’ stolen base and an intentional walk to Heather Read set the stage for Berry’s infield single.

A Lauren Overlock double, Stephanie Whittier triple and Hubbard single produced two sixth-inning runs that tied it for Belfast.

Overlock had two doubles for Belfast with Hubbard and Ross contributing two singles each. Whittier notched the win, allowing seven hits.

Katie DeGrasse had two singles for Camden Hills.

Jody Pinkham tripled, singled and drove in two runs for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Searsport, Brandi Winters hit a triple and two singles to knock in two runs and lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill to the win.

Brittany Davis allowed just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out five for George Stevens. Robin Rioux had three singles.

Aimee Neilsen had two singles for Searsport.

At O’Keefe Softball Complex in Bangor, Racheal Stevens led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, went to second after a walk, and scored the winning run on a fielding error.

Freshman Devan Richard had two singles, two stolen bases, and two runs for the John Bapst Crusaders.

Emily Balaban had a double, single and an RBI for the Red Riots.
