COLLEGE

Curt Smith

Curt Smith of the University of Maine has been named the America East Baseball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The freshman from Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, went 5-for-12 (.417) with four runs scored, two RBIs, two doubles, his first two collegiate home runs and two stolen bases in the Black Bears’ weekend series against Vermont. He is now batting .346 with 20 runs scored, 21 RBIs and 10 stolen bases this season.

Kim Brewer

University of Southern Maine senior Kim Brewer was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week by the Little East Conference. Brewer set a school record in the hepathlon at the Penn Relays with 4,439 points and won the 100 meter hurdles at the Alliance/Little East Championships with a school record time of 15.77.

Kristen Sinclair

University of Southern Maine senior Kristen Sinclair was honored as the Little East Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Sinclair won one event and finished second in another at the Alliance/Little East Championships. She won the javelin with a throw of 40.26 and finished second in the hammer throw with a 40.62 mark.

Eddie Skeffington

University of Southern Maine freshman outfielder Eddie Skeffington has been named Little East Rookie of the Week. In four games last week he scored four runs, hit seven RBIs and three home runs for the 4-2 Huskies.

Mike Burke

Mike Burke of the University of Southern Maine tennis team has been named Rookie of the Week. Burke had a number-four singles win and went 2-0 at number-three doubles last week to help the Huskies secure the Little East Conference title with a 6-0 record.

Kendall Cox

Bowdoin’s Lacrosse goalkeeper senior Kendall Cox has been named NESCAC co-Player of the Week. Cox made eight saves including three in overtime as the Polar Bears beat Amherst 10-7. In the first round of the NESCAC tournament Cox made a season-high 14 saves in a 13-6 win over Wesleyan.

Luke Enman

St. Joseph’s freshman shortstop Luke Enman has been named North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week. In an 8-2 week for the Monks Enman had 18 hits, including 5 doubles and 3 home runs and 14 RBIs.
