Missing Randolph man still sought by police

RANDOLPH – A Maine State Police investigation into last fall’s disappearance of a 55-year-old Randolph man remains open even after a second search behind a home in Randolph failed to turn up any traces of the man.

Investigators two weeks ago searched for Lawrence “Larry” Farrell behind the ramshackle mobile home where he had been living with Norris Perry. Farrell was known to many as “Bicycle Larry” because he often rode bicycles around town.

Perry, 64, committed suicide in December and left a voice message with his sister saying he had killed Farrell and that the body could be found behind his home.

In December, police used cadaver dogs and a backhoe to search for Farrell’s body on the property. The half-day search last month included a half-dozen state police detectives, a sergeant from the Maine Warden Service and his dog.

“Unless something else turns up, we’ve exhausted that site,” said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. “We’ll wait for some information to come forward that will lead us to another site.”

Police have characterized Farrell’s disappearance as suspicious and said they believe he is dead.
