HAMPDEN – Sisters Eva Shannon and Myra Shannon combined for five singles and two RBIs as the Hampden Academy softball team shut down Old Town 2-0 Thursday in high school action.
Junior Myra Shannon hit two singles and drove in her sister in the second inning. Freshman Eva Shannon singled three times, including one in the second that plated Michelle Wells (two singles). Jenna Shue doubled. Erika Veinote allowed two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

Greenville’s Beth Bartley chipped in with a solo homer and two singles, while Leslie Harris added a triple and a single. Elisa Gary drove in two runs on a double and two singles, while Susan Muzzy gave up just three hits.
