MACHIAS – Katie Stevens scored the winning run on Monique St. Pierre’s single to left field as the Machias Bulldogs nipped Shead 7-6 in high school softball action Friday.
St. Pierre led Machias with three singles and one RBI. Eileen Alley had two singles, a double, and another RBI. Stevens ended with a single and a double.
Tiffany Martinez tied the game in the top of the seventh for Shead, when she scored a run off a sacrifice bunt from Loretta Biss. Fawn Cummings singled twice to bring in two runs for the Tigerettes of Eastport. Celia Cummings doubled twice and singled once for another RBI. Ashley Murphy had two singles and an RBI.

Ellsworth sweeps Foxcroft
At Foxcroft, Catie Cravens and Emma Rieman each drove in four runs as the Eagles won the first of two games 16-2. They also took the second game 4-1.
In the first game, Craven tripled and doubled twice. Rieman had three singles and a triple.
Coral Goggin and Brittany Fadley had an RBI single apiece for the Ponies.
In the second game, Ellsworth’s Maggie Seavey hit two singles and had one RBI.
Ashley Martin had two singles for Foxcroft Academy.

Royalettes sweep East Grand
At Danforth, Rachelle Parker’s three-hitter led the Royalettes to a 30-0 victory in the opening game of their doubleheader with the Vikings.
Jonesport-Beals won the second game 9-3.
In the first game, Parker also contributed two doubles, two singles, and four RBIs; Kristy Smith added three singles and four RBIs, and Jennie Durkee had a pair of singles.
Sarah Rodier topped East Grand with two singles.
In the nightcap, Sarah Roy posted a triple, two singles, and an RBI for Jonesport-Beals, and Renee Jordan had a double and two RBIs.
For the Vikings, Jodi Crone, Rodier, and Ryanne Flannery each hit a single. Crone had two RBIs.

At Bar Harbor, Sarah Ingalls had three singles to drive in two runs and help lead Mount Desert Island to the win.

Sarah Yosmus and Kelsey Fenwick added two more goals apiece. Kim Smith, Rachel Coolidge and Maggie Murphy each scored once for 3-2 Mount Ararat. Lauren Frank stopped five shots.
Sarah Doubleday scored the 2-4 Windjammers’ lone goal and Erika Johnson made nine saves.
Baseball
Foxcroft, Ellsworth split
At Dover-Foxcroft, the Ponies’ Matt Carey pitched a one-hit shutout in the opener, but Matt Homich scattered five hits in the second game as the Eagles earned the split.
Foxcroft Academy won the first game 4-0, but Ellsworth took the nightcap 8-3.
In Game 1, Carey allowed only a second-inning double to Chris Edgecomb, striking out six and walking seven. David White led the Ponies with an RBI single.
Cory Smith spread out five hits in taking the loss.
In Game 2, Homich struck out eight, walked four, and hit a batter while earning the win.
Andy Berry led Ellsworth with a double and a single, and Mike Smith singled.
Justin Freeman posted a double for Foxcroft, while Logan Forrest and Josh Pelletier added run-scoring singles.

Tardiff also knocked in three runs with a homer in the fifth. George Keefe doubled and singled to bring in two runs. Cody Andrew also doubled and singled to bring in one run. Roach added a double and two singles.
Danny Lyons singled three times, driving in two runs for the Trojans. Marcus Maffuci tripled and singled for two more RBIs, while Kyle Shea doubled and singled for another two. Matt Grover had a double, a single, and one RBI.
