HANCOCK ? Voters approved a $2.7 million budget for 2005-06, passed a revised mobile home park ordinance and changed the zoning designation for a Washington Junction Road property during the annual town meeting Monday night.
About 140 people attended the 31/2 hour meeting at Hancock Grammar School, where residents approved every item on the 75-article warrant. Town Clerk Marilyn J. Manning said the meeting was a bit longer than usual, mostly because attendants asked for more information on the state’s new education funding formula.
The newly revised ordinance regarding mobile home parks calls for the town’s code enforcement officer to review applications for park construction instead of the town clerk. Also, the zoning designation for a parcel on Washington Junction Road, where resident Spencer Preble operates a garage, was changed from rural to commercial.
During the meeting, First Selectman Dexter Bellows presented the Citizen of the Year award to Jane and Hadley Parrot. Residents also elected two new members to the School Committee. Kim Anderson and Stacey Bagley will each serve a three-year term.
