BANGOR – Costumes and black tie are optional this year, but passwords are required at Penobscot Theatre’s All That Jazz Gala Event. On Saturday, May 14, the Bangor Opera House will be transformed into a “speak-easy” where attendees may enjoy a small plate buffet, a silent auction, entertainment by jazz singer Diane Linscott and her three-piece band, dessert, a “wheel of fortune” and other surprises.
Silent auction prizes are on display and may be bid on in person or by phone during regular box office hours at the Bangor Opera House. Final bids will be taken at the gala.
Prizes continue to be donated and include a Forest Hart bronze sculpture by Sally Bates; pieces from Antiquity Tile in Hampden; an overnight Bar Harbor package, including one night at the Manor House Inn, tickets to Acadia Repertory Theatre and dinner at Galyn’s Restaurant; tickets to the Stratford Festival of Canada, Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Maine Center for the Arts; subscriptions to The Theater at Monmouth, Acadia Repertory Theatre, and Portland Stage Company; memberships at the Farnsworth Museum, the Bangor Y and University of Maine Museum of Art; gift certificates from area businesses; a gift basket from Robinson Ballet; and more.
To obtain tickets and a password, call the box office at 942-3333, or visit the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. In addition to regular hours, the box office also is open performance Saturdays and two hours before scheduled performances. Info is available at www.Penobscot
