Maine puts 5 on all-America East team

The University of Maine is represented by five players on the 2005 America East All-Conference team announced Wednesday: Sarah Bennis, Brittany Cheney, Jess Brady, Lauren Dulkis, and Amy Kuhl. Bennis, Cheney and Brady are all first team selections while Dulkis and Kuhl made the second team.

The University of Maine is represented by five players on the 2005 America East All-Conference team announced Wednesday: Sarah Bennis, Brittany Cheney, Jess Brady, Lauren Dulkis, and Amy Kuhl. Bennis, Cheney and Brady are all first team selections while Dulkis and Kuhl made the second team.

Brady is a senior outfielder from Jackman who is on the first team for the fourth straight year. She is batting .297, 23 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases.

Bennis is a junior pitcher from Pownal who leads the conference in strikeouts (116) with a 9-8 record and 2.02 ERA (second in AE).

Cheney, a junior shortstop from Massachusetts, earned her second straight first team honor by leading the Black Bears with a .316 batting average and 20 RBIs.

Dulkis is batting .315 with a team-leading 40 hits and Kuhl is batting .279 with 13 RBIs and a team-leading 10 doubles.

Maine opens its America East playoff schedule today in a quarterfinal game against Boston University.
