MMA men’s soccer coach

CASTINE – Maine Maritime Academy director of athletics Jim Dyer recently announced that David Patterson has been appointed to the head men’s soccer coach post and sports information director at the college.

A career soccer player and coach, Patterson brings more than nine years of collegiate coaching experience to the job, complemented by coaching experiences in youth soccer and semi-professional club soccer.

Patterson joins the MMA athletic department after serving more than five years as communications director for Soccer Maine, the state’s youth soccer association. He also served as the ATM coordinator for the Great Maine Schools Project, a program of the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development.

Patterson’s collegiate coaching experience with NCAA Divsion I and II schools includes posts as the UMAine head women’s soccer coach and head coach of the men’s golf and women’s soccer programs of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. At the club an community level, he has served as the head coach for the Roanoke Wrath Soccer Club, a semi-professional United States League, Division III team, and the Roanoke Valley Soccer Club.

Patterson holds bachelor’s and master’s degree. He is an instructor for Soccer Maine and the United States Soccer Federation and holds a USSF National ‘B’ license. He also maintains national and advanced national diplomas for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
