WALDOBORO ? Police were investigating two bomb scares at SAD 40 schools that ended classes early on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In both cases, no bombs were found. Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, an A.D. Gray Middle School pupil walking to a restroom noticed writing on a wall in a hallway in brown marker pen that said “bomb in the school,” said Police Chief Leroy Jones.

Eighth-grade pupils were evacuated to a nearby ball field, he said. Seventh-graders were away on a field trip. Classes were called off for the day and the building was searched.

At 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a Medomak Valley High School student went into a boys restroom and found the scrawled message, “Bomb in gym will go off at 1 o’clock.'” The 700-student school was evacuated to the student parking lot and students were sent home.
