Pitchers spark wins for SAHS, CAHS

DYER BROOK ? Junior righthander Travis Brooker allowed only four hits and a walk and struck out eight to lead the Southern Aroostook Warriors to a 7-0 high school baseball victory over the Fort Fairfield Tigers Thursday.

Jeff Boutilier cranked a two-run homer and singled for the 10-0 winners and Adam Anderson added a two-run triple.

Matt Rochford and Brian Andrews each singled twice for the Tigers.

Stearns 11, Houlton 6

At Millinocket, Jordan Burleigh pitched a complete game and drove home four runs as the Minutemen earned their sixth straight victory.

Houlton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Burleigh hit a two-run single in the bottom of the inning as the Minutemen took a 3-1 lead. Ryan Bouchard hit a two-run single an inning later as Stearns scored four more runs to push their lead to 7-1.

Burleigh finished with two hits and four RBIs, while Bouchard and Matt Wark each had two singles and two RBIs.

Burleigh struck out 10 while improving his pitching record to 3-0.

Jordan Hill paced Houlton with two singles and three RBIs, while Jeff Lenentine doubled and singled and drove home a run.

CAHS 19, Wisdom 1

At Mars Hill, James Richards pitched a no-hitter in five innings to lead Central Aroostook to its third win. Richards struck out eight and walked two.

Erick Martinez tripled, doubled, singled and drove in three runs to spark the Panthers. Richards also drove in three runs with a double and two singles. R.J. Richards chipped in with three singles.

Brandon Cyr scored the Wisdom run on an error after he walked and stole second and third.

Van Buren 5, Limestone/MSSM 3

At Van Buren, Andy Martin had a double and knocked out a two-run homer in the third as the Crusaders edged out the Eagles.

Dustin Cyr doubled twice to drive in two runs, while Trevor Hews tripled and singled for one RBI.

James Dempsey singled and doubled for Limestone/MSSM. Scott Breneman added and RBI single.

Fort Fairfield 23, Washburn 5

At Washburn, Ruth Arato had a triple, three singles and three RBIs while Brittany Strout allowed seven hits to propel the visiting Tigers to the win.

Strout also had two singles and four RBIs for unbeaten Fort Fairfield. Kerri Cunningham had three singles and an RBI. Kelsey Towle also had three singles.

Amy Reed and Jamie Abar each singled twice for the Beavers.

At Presque Isle, Spencer King singled and doubled twice, while Danny Michaud singled three times as they each drove in two runs for the winning Wildcats.

Matt McGlinn also brought in two runs with a single and a triple. Tim Lyford had three singles and Chad Lavway had a single and a triple. Tim Morrison added a single and three RBI.

Derek Bonefant singled and doubled for the Warriors.

At Millinocket, Hillary Arsenault led the Minutemen, singling three times, driving in two runs and scoring three.

Jenny Powers added three more singles and three runs scored.

Michelle Ives singled four times with one RBI for the Shiretowners.

At Mars Hills, Nicole St. Pierre tossed a one-hitter to go with a double, a single and an RBI as the Pioneers of St. Agatha rolled.

Kayla Daigle drove in three runs on a double and a single for Wisdom and Amber Voisine chipped in with two doubles and two RBIs.

Jenna Long had an RBI single for the Panthers.

At Van Buren, Melonie Allen, Kylie Mulhern and Logan Cousins each hit a home run for the Eagles as they took a win from the Crusaders.

Allen added two singles and a total of two RBI. Mulhern brought in three runs with her homer. She also singled twice and doubled once. Cousins finished with another single and two RBI.

Macie Laplante had a three-run home run and a single for Van Buren. Lisa Levasseur doubled twice and singled once.

At Presque Isle, Dani Grenier struck out eight batters, while walking one and allowing only three hits as the Wildcats sped to a win.

Meagan Pinette singled twice and stole three bases for Presque Isle. Alisen Donovan singled and tripled to drive in two runs. Katie DeLong also stole three bases and scored three runs.

Monique Labbe, Leah Babin, and Iris Guimond each singled for the Warriors.
