BANGOR ? A Hermon man who stole nearly $30,000 in jewelry, firearms and other property from two Bangor homes earlier this year was sentenced to five years in prison Friday in Penobscot County Superior Court.
Stephen Pinkham, 24, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of burglary and two counts of felony theft, according to Penobscot County Deputy District Attorney Michael Roberts.
Pinkham was sentenced to five years in prison on those charges, as well as an additional five years for violating an existing probation that resulted from burglaries in 2000, Roberts said. Both sentences are to be served concurrently, he added.
Pinkham burglarized two Bangor homes in February, stealing nearly $30,000 in possessions that included jewelry, more than 10 firearms, DVDs, and stereo and video game equipment, Roberts said.
“Most, if not all, of the property has been recovered,” he said.
Pinkham could have been sentenced to a maximum of 10 years for each of the two Class B burglaries and 10 years for one Class B theft charge, Roberts said. The other theft charge, a Class C crime, is punishable with up to five years in prison, he said.
