Gorham’s Sally Gherardi takes Beech Ridge race

SCARBOROUGH ? Gorham’s Sally Gherardi survived a 12-car crash and a late caution to take the Sport Series 35-lap feature event Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Gherardi, the only woman racing regularly at Beech Ridge, edged Jason Larrabee of Raymond, who finished second. Mary Adams of Arundel was third, followed by Scarborough’s Nate Leavitt and Scarborough’s Don Colpritt, who were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Brown takes Late Models

At Wiscasset, Fred “PeeWee” Brown of Winterport jumped out to a lead at the start and maintained a two-car advantage the rest of the way en route to a win in the Late Model feature at Wiscasset Raceway Saturday night.

Mike Orr of Wiscasset took second place, while Chelsea’s Maurice Young was third and Nick Reno of West Bath took fourth. Bill Pinkham of Wiscasset followed in fifth place.
