CAMDEN ? An Owls Head man suffered minor injuries Saturday morning in a head-on collision on Elm Street, which is U.S. Route 1.

Robert Slater, 74, was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport by Camden First Aid Association. He was treated and then released, according to a hospital nursing supervisor Sunday.

Slater was traveling north on Elm Street at 8:51 a.m. in a 2000 Saturn station wagon when his vehicle apparently drifted over the center line of the roadway, colliding head-on with a 1998 Ford Escort driven by Jamie Oakes, 22, of Camden, according to Camden Police Officer Jason Hall on Saturday.

Both drivers were traveling alone in their vehicles and were wearing seat belts. Airbags deployed in both cars.

There are no charges at this time, Hall said, noting his investigation of the accident is not completed.
