Three John Bapst Memorial High School teams took top honors in their respective sections during the Destination ImagiNation State Celebration recently at the University of Maine in Orono.
Those students are in the process of raising funds to enable them to compete later this month in the DI Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn.
There are four ways in which you can help in that effort.
First is by attending a Talent Show at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the school’s auditorium on Broadway in Bangor.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $2.50 for those 12 and under, and $15 for families, and are available at the door.
If you are 18 or older, you can test-drive a new vehicle at Bangor Dodge between 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, and when you do, the DI Teams will receive a $5 donation.
Or you can purchase items at their Yard-Plant Sale 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, outside the school on Broadway.
Finally, many team members are performing community service projects upon request and seeking donations from public and corporate sponsors in the area.
So if you are approached and asked to help and you can, please do.

Jane Sanderson, special events coordinator for Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, reports tee times are still available for “one of Maine’s best golf tournaments,” the 14th annual Bar Harbor Bank & Trust 2005 Open Golf Tournament.
That event is Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, at Northeast Harbor Golf Club and Bar Harbor Golf Course.
Golfers alternate play at the two courses, under the watchful eye of event co-founder Red MacDonald.
“Although this is an individual tournament,” Sanderson explained, “Jon Small and Chris Ewing of WABI-TV 5 will join Sen. Dennis Damon and Bar Harbor Bank & Trust president and CEO, Joseph Murphy, in a best ball challenge team” which, she wrote, “will add a team competition” to the event.
The registration fee is $85, of which $60 is tax-deductible, and players also will be able to partake of an all-you-can-eat, homemade fish chowder, ice cream sundaes, a wine and cheese party and continental breakfast.
A cart valet will take golfers right to the clubhouse, and the benefit will include giveaways.
Golfers will have the opportunity to win a 2005 Chevrolet, compliments of Morrison Chevrolet-Olds, for a hole-in-one on Hole 11 at the Bar Harbor course, or a 2005 Toyota, compliments of Downeast Toyota Buick, for a hole-in-one on Hole 14 at the Northeast Harbor course.
Tee times can be obtained by calling the Development Office at MCMH, 664-5337, or at www.mainehospital.org.
Proceeds benefit the Hospice/Palliative Care Suites and Diabetes Education at MCMH.
