CAHS upsets SAHS Panthers win with 3-run 7th

MARS HILL – Sam Clockedile hit a two-run single and Eric Grivois scored on a throwing error as the Central Aroostook Panthers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Southern Aroostook 10-9 and hand the Warriors their first loss in high school baseball play Tuesday.

Eric Martinez singled twice and tripled to lead the winners and Andrew York added a single and a double. Clockedile singled twice.

Evan Boutilier doubled, singled, and drove in a run for the Warriors of Dyer Brook, and Clay Lawlor added an RBI double.

At Limestone, Tom Dahlgren’s two-run single, following an Andre Roy single and Paul Roy double, broke a 3-3 tie and highlighted a four-run sixth inning that gave the Owls their win over Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

The game was scheduled to be played at Madawaska but wet field conditions moved it to Limestone.

Paul Roy scattered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and not walking anybody.

Matt Beaulieu doubled and singled for Madawaska, while Andrew Kirchner singled twice for the Eagles and Dustin Morgan doubled.

At Van Buren, Dustin Cyr drove in three runs on a double and a single as the Crusaders picked up their eighth win.

Van Buren’s Andy Martin scattered four hits to go with 13 strikeouts and 10 walks. Trevor Hews chipped in with two doubles, a single, and an RBI, while Matt Parent hit three singles to go with an RBI, and Lance Smith had two singles and drove in a run.

Sam Cobb singled twice and had an RBI for Ashland. Nick Gimble added an RBI single.

Houlton 7, Stearns 4

At Houlton, Hunter Caron hit a two-run double and Ian Pasquerelli added a two-run single to spark a six-run third inning that propelled the Shiretowners to victory.

Stearns of Millinocket had taken a 3-0 lead before Houlton rallied to take the lead for good.

Jordan Hill earned the pitching win, with Mike Cleary getting the save.

Ryan Brewer had three singles for the Shiretowners, while Aaron Fitzpatrick singled twice and Corey Lewis and Cleary each added an RBI double.

Ryan Bouchard doubled twice for Stearns, while Matt Wark and George Surrette each singled twice.

At Fort Fairfield, Jake Kenneson doubled and singled and Billy Scull singled twice as the Tigers gained the victory.

Matt Rochford added a double for Fort Fairfield, which took control with a seven-run fourth inning.

Rochford, Kenneson, Scull, and Brian Andrews combined to pitch a one-hitter.

Jordan Guy had Hodgdon’s lone hit, a two-run single in the top of the second.

Shead sweeps East Grand

At Eastport, the Tigers remained unbeaten by posting 10-0 and 15-2 victories over the Vikings from Danforth.

In the first game, Aaron Sullivan took a perfect game into the fifth inning before finishing a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Josh Francis hit a double and two singles and had an RBI, and Nick Martinez added a double and single.

For East Grand, Micah Barnes doubled and Adam Beaudoin singled, but Barnes was thrown out at the plate as the Tigers saved the shutout.

In the second game, Sullivan posted a double, two singles, and five RBIs for Shead. Francis contributed two doubles, a single, and two RBIs, and Derek Maloney had a double, a single, and two RBIs. Michael Cummings picked up the win.

Barnes and Brent Byers each had and RBI single for the Vikings.

At Milo, Josh Ireland singled, doubled and knocked in three runs to lead the Howlers of Howland to the win.

Matt Cummings had two singles and two RBIs for Penobscot Valley.

Brian Salley and Kevin Nason each had an RBI double for the Patriots.

At Belfast, John Walsh’s fielder’s choice RBI in the fourth plated Brandon Gardner, who had doubled to lead off the inning, with the eventual winning run that gave the Lions their first victory.

Gardner had an RBI single in the first for Belfast, and Josh Gallant allowed just one run on three hits while striking out eight.

John Wentworth rapped an RBI double for the Mustangs of Thorndike, while Mike Mayer and Mike Light each singled.

At Newport, Eric Anderson tossed a two-hitter, striking out 11 with no walks, and he also paced the Rams’ offense with a double and single and four runs batted in.

Anderson’s two-run single and RBI singles by Jordan Heath and Brian Hackett keyed a five-run fourth inning that broke the game open.

Brendan Donaldson and Josh White singled for Nokomis.

At East Millinocket, the Vikings pounded out 11 hits, including two singles each from four different players, as Searsport earned its ninth win.

Matt Nickerson, Josh Nickerson, and Tom Cameron each singled twice and drove in two runs for the Vikings. Ryan Shute added two singles.

Chris Byron led the Wolverines with an RBI single.

At Ellsworth, Kyle Shea knocked a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to give the Trojans the eventual game-winning run.

Shea also had a two-run single for MDI. Dan Lyons had three singles and three RBIs, and Matt Grover singled three times and plated a run.

Ricky Trombley hit a two-run double for the Eagles and, Matt Homich had two doubles, a single, and two RBIs.

At Lee, Charlie Boulrisse started the Pandas off with a three-run home run in the first as they ran by the Blue Devils.

Travis Linscott held Calais to two hits in four innings, while walking three and striking out four. Linscott and Boulrisse also had RBI singles. Kris King added two singles, and Gerry Worster had an RBI double for Lee.

Scott Geel singled to bring in one run for Calais.

At Van Buren, Pam Spooner pitched a two-hitter as the Hornets cruised to the win.

Beth Chamberlin and Katie Clark of Ashland each hit three singles and drove in a run. Lindsey Long singled three times.

Lilly Morrow singled twice and had two RBIs for the Crusaders.

At Fort Fairfield, Meryl Harris belted a grand slam during a five-run first inning to send undefeated Fort Fairfield on its way to its ninth win.

Sisters Kaylee and Whitney Searles combined for six singles and five RBIs. Britteny Strout and Shannon Towle teamed up on a five-inning five-hitter.

Heather London had two singles for Hodgdon.

Holly Franck notched a triple, double, and plated two runs for the Minutemen of Millinocket. Amy Collinsworth had two singles and two RBIs, Felicia Achorn had two singles and drove in a run, and Dayna Somers chipped in two singles.

At Mars Hill, Greater Houlton Christian Academy scored 31 runs on 10 hits in the doubleheader sweep.

In the first game, Megan Korhonen hit a home run and two singles to drive in three runs for the Eagles, while Emma Boutilier doubled and singled.

Andy Long had four singles and three RBIs for Central Aroostook, while Sami Brewer doubled twice and singled, Brittany Collins hit a double and two singles, Sarah Long doubled and singled, and Alisha Cote singled twice.

In the second game, Boutilier hit a three-run triple and Katie Thompson had a two-run double for the winners.

Jessica Grew tripled and singled for Central Aroostook, while Latisha Neece doubled and singled and Andi Long and Kayla Day each singled twice.

Shead sweeps East Grand

At Eastport, the Tigers pounded out 34 runs on 35 hits to sweep East Grand of Danforth 18-6 and 16-3.

In the first game, Celia Cummings chalked up two doubles, two singles, and drove in six runs while Tiffany Martinez knocked a solo homer and added two singles to pace the Tigers. Vicki Morrison doubled, singled three times, and plated four runs.

Paula Osnoe had two singles and two RBIs to lead the Vikings.

In the second game, Martinez had two singles, a double, and three RBIs while Cummings collected two doubles, a triple, a single, and four RBIs as Shead won in five innings.

Ryanne Flannery and Alicia Dodge each singled and scored for East Grand.
