Big School (Classes A-B)
MATT FOWLER
The Presque Isle High school senior swept the throwing events at Tuesday’s Aroostook County track and field championship. He won the shot put by more than three feet with a best of 40 feet, 3 inches, the discus by 27 feet with a best of 135-11, and the javelin by 5 feet with a tops of 144-7.
Small School (Classes C-D)
CARSON HARTMAN
Hartman, a senior at Fort Kent Community High School, won four events at the annual Aroostook County track and field championships. Hartman won the 100 in 11.4 seconds, the 200 in 25.7 seconds, the long jump with a best of 19 feet, 4 3/4 inches, and the triple jump (39-10).
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
TERREN HALL
Hall, a Bucksport High sophomore, was key in two wins as the Golden Bucks ran their record to 9-0 and claimed first place in the Eastern Maine Class B Heal Points. She hit a two-run homer in an 8-0 win over Orono and pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks in a 2-0 win over MDI. In that game she also had an RBI single in the Golden Bucks’ two-run first inning.
Small School (Classes C-D)
CHELSEA COLLIER
The Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook junior allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out nine as the Warriors earned a 9-3 victory over Bangor Christian for a 10-0 record. On May 7 Collier tossed her third career no-hitter, striking out 10 in a 9-1 win over Washburn. SAHS is ranked first in the Eastern Maine Class D standings.
