Limestone tips Southern Aroostook

LIMESTONE – Emily O’Neal stroked an RBI double during a three-run fourth-inning rally Wednesday as the Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics softball team knocked Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook from the unbeaten ranks.

O’Neal added a run-scoring single in the fifth for the Eagles.

Lindsey Beaulieu scattered six hits, striking out nine and walking seven, for Limestone/MSSM. Melanie Allen hit an RBI single and Meagan Pelletier had two RBIs.

Amanda Charette singled twice for the Warriors of Dyer Brook behind Chelsea Collier, who fanned nine and walked four.

At Presque Isle, Danielle Grenier pitched a three-hitter, striking out five and walking three while hitting two singles, to lead the Wildcats to victory.

Angela Norsworthy tripled and doubled with three RBIs for Presque Isle, while Meagan Pinette had a double, a single and two RBIs. Katie Delong tripled and singled, while Katie Moody added two singles and an RBI.

Michelle Varney led Houlton with two singles.

At Washburn, Amber Palmer’s fielder’s choice RBI plated Erica McDougall in the bottom of the seventh with the winning run for the Beavers.

Jamie Abar led a 16-hit attack with a two-run homer, two-run triple and two-run single for Washburn. McDougall also smacked a two-run homer and added two singles. Palmer also had two doubles and a single, and drove in three runs.

Sami Brewer led the Panthers of Mars Hill with a triple, two singles and three RBIs.

At St. Agatha, freshman Whitney Flint hit a pair of home runs in the second game of a doubleheader as Ashland completed the sweep.

In the first game, a makeup contest in which Ashland was the home team, Pam Spooner pitched a three hitter for the Hornets. Ashlee Peters had a pair of singles for Ashland.

Amanda Haskins hit an RBI double for Wisdom.

In the second game, Spooner added a triple while winning pitcher Ashley Nemer and Lindsay Long each doubled for Ashland.

Jenna Dubois doubled for the Pioneers.

At Caribou, Fort Kent scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to earn the win.

Leah Babin led the Warriors with three singles, while Monique Labbe added a double and a single.

Jessica Kenney and Christy Zbylut each had three singles for Caribou.

Chelsea Bates hit a double and two singles for Katahdin, while Shelly Martin and Lindsay Albert each doubled.

At Washburn, Steven Pesut hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Beavers the win.

Ethan Doody had an RBI single and Adam Thompson a single for Washburn. Jason Thompson pitched a complete game with 14 strikeouts.

Andrew York had two singles and an RBI in addition to 12 strikeouts while pitching for the Panthers of Mars Hill. R.J. Richardson doubled and Eric Grivois singled.

At St. Agatha, Tyler Cote earned his first varsity pitching win with six innings of 10-strikeout relief for the Hornets.

Cote also had three singles for Ashland, while Isaac Ward singled twice and Josh Chamberlin tripled.

Chad Sirois and Tony Paradis each singled for Wisdom.

Patrick Willett doubled twice for Katahding, while Cameron Cunningham and Owen McCarthy each singled twice and Oneil Qualey hit a solo home run.
