Moran no-hits MDI as Hampden wins 7th

HAMPDEN – Senior righthander Pat Moran pitched a six-inning no-hitter to lead the Hampden Academy Broncos to a 10-0 high school baseball victory over the Mount Desert Island Trojans Thursday.

Moran struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter in producing the gem.

Blaine Meehan, Kevin Brooks, Chris Morris and Billy Shannon each singled twice for Hampden.

At Foxcroft, Logan Forest doubled in the second inning, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Adam Conway to give Foxcroft Academy the victory.

Conway singled twice to drive in a run for Foxcroft and Justin Freeman had two singles.

At Jackman, Jeff Malhall allowed four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out 15 to lead Forest Hills past Greenville.

Steven Achey and Josh Malhall both hit three-run home runs in the second inning for Forest Hills and Jeff Malhall hit a solo homer.

David Aucoin hit a two-run homer for Greenville and Kevin Label added a two-run double.

James Ramsdell singled twice with one RBI for Washington Academy.

Mason Bukowski tripled to bring in the Tigers two runs and A.J. Pennartz had a double and a single.

Brooker and Anderson combined for 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Mike Lopez’s two-run single and Josh Branscombe’s RBI single highlighted the seven-run fourth inning rally.

Lopez and Rusty Toothaker had two singles each for the winners.

Nate Sixberry doubled for East Grand of Danforth and James Crone singled.

Angel Cumberland doubled and singled for Foxcroft Academy and Sarah Anderson doubled.

At Guilford, the Eagles took advantage of 19 walks for their eighth win.

Chelsea Robbins singled three times and Natasha Robbins had two singles and a double for George Stevens Academy.

Kristi Levesque, Abbie Galuski, Megan Tweedie and Jessica Pratt each singled for Piscataquis.

Hannah Breton hit a solo home run, double, and two singles for Greenville. Brittany Boucher had a double and two singles with two RBIs and Lauren Fling singled three times to drive in three runs.

Crystal Taylor had a triple and three singles to knock in two runs for Forest Hills. Lisa Brown also had a triple and three singles and Vicki Pease added four singles and four RBIs.

At East Sullivan, Nicky Sargent broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning with a two-run double and Kayla Higgins followed with a two-run homer as Sumner triumphed.

Sargent had an RBI single to go with her double. Jody Pinkham and Whitney Page had singles.

Sargent pitched 5 2/3 innings of three-hit, four-run relief to pick up the win.

Mary Mawhinney’s run-scoring double and singles by Megan Look and Rebekah Cox were the only hits for Washington Academy of East Machias.

At Calais, Steph Perry singled twice and tripled once to drive in three runs as the Blue Devils earned their 11th straight win.

At Van Buren, Laura Beckwith hit a grand slam and Ruth Arato added a two-run home run, double and single to power the Tigers by the Crusaders.

Brittney Strout chipped in with a solo homer for the winners.

Karie Ouellette hit a grand slam for Van Buren and Lisa Levesseur added four singles and two RBIs. Megan Lajoie contributed three singles.

At Ashland, Lindsey Long singled, stole second, and scored the winning run on a double by Beth Chamberlin.

Mea Richmond stole two bases in the bottom of the second to tie the game up for Ashland. Ashlee Peters slammed a three-run homer in the first inning. Chamberlin also had two singles.

Amy Reed led the Beavers with four singles and an RBI. Amber Palmer added an RBI single.
