The American Folk Festival is looking for volunteers.
Some 800 people are needed to fill 2,100 shifts during the event, set for Aug. 26-28 at the Bangor waterfront.
Deb Melnikas, the festival’s assistant director, said 360 people have registered to volunteer.
Melnikas said volunteers of all ages are key to making the festival successful.
Twenty kinds of volunteer positions are available. They range from more strenuous tasks such as setup and tear-down to jobs with a slower pace, such as collecting donations, chauffeuring, registration or vending.
For a list of opportunities for volunteers, visit the festival Web site at www.americanfolkfestival.org.
A private party will be held for those who decide to give their time.
The festival is looking for volunteers to register by July 22. Anyone interested can visit the Web site or call 992-2630.
