BANGOR – Back-to-back run-scoring triples by winning pitcher Travis Dunton and Dusty Thomas keyed a four-run first inning for Orono en route to an 8-4 high school baseball win over Mount Desert Island Tuesday.

Travis Bryant had a triple and two singles and drove in two runs for the winners; Dunton had two triples and two RBIs and Jay Spencer had an inside-the-park homer.

Marcus Maffucci tripled and singled for Mount Desert Island and Sam Merrill tripled and singled.

At Lee, Gerry Worster slammed a two-run homer and hit an RBI single and Everett Houghton hit a solo homer as the Pandas rolled.

Charlie Boulrisse walloped hit a three-run double and Tyler Thompson had two singles and three RBIs for Lee.

Craig Moody and Aaron Ellis each had a single for the Dragons.

Matt Wark notched two singles for Stearns and Bryan Bouchard an RBI single.

At Ellsworth, Kevin McAvoy hit a three-run homer as the Witches won in five innings.

Andrew Otis had two singles and an RBI while Ben Davis added two singles and two RBIs for Brewer.

Andy Berry led the Eagles with a three-run triple.

Cummings added two singles and three RBIs for the winners and Ryan Ware had two doubles and an RBI.

Nick Emery notched an RBI single and Garrett Dumont two singles and an RBI single for the Patriots of Milo.

At Dover-Foxcroft, the host Ponies rallied in the last of the seventh thanks to Justin Freeman’s single to right with two outs and two strikes.

David White started things off with a one-out single and then gave way to pinch-runner Jon Catell, who then stole second. After a groundout moved Catell to third, Freeman got the game-winning hit.

Caleb Pelletier had a three-run double in the fourth.

Brady Hurd hit a solo home run in the first and singled for the Hawks. Brian Perry had a double, single and one RBI. Josh Kane had two singles and an RBI.

Patty Lymburner singled for the Blue Hill-based Eagles.

Michelle Mulherin broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning by doubling, stealing third and scoring on a throwing error.

Mulherin also had a single. Suzanne Johnson and Amber Benoit also had singles.

Tiffany Brown and Jamie Milton singled for Penobscot Valley and Milton threw a complete-game four-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.
