VAN BUREN – Dustin Cyr’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Van Buren baseball team to a 9-8 victory over Madawaska Wednesday in high school action.

Cyr had a double and a single to go with his homer and drove in three runs. Trevor Hews had a double and two singles and had an RBI and winning pitcher Andy Martin had a double and a single as did Kyle Chasse.

Martin, who had an RBI, improved to 4-0 with a complete-game performance.

Tom Dahlgren and Matt Beaulieu had two singles apiece for Madawaska and combined to drive in three runs.

At Ashland, Adam Anderson struck out 13 and gave up just two infield hits as the Warriors shut down the Hornets.

Mike Lopez and Travis Brooker both singled, stole a base and scored a run for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook. Zac Austin had an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the third inning.

Trevor Thompkins and Sam Cobb each had a single for Ashland.

At Fort Kent, Joe Soucy hit a double and a single to drive in five runs and lead the Warriors past the Pioneers of St. Agatha.

Tom Desjardins singled twice to knock in a run for Fort Kent and Bud Soucy had two singles.

Shane Martin doubled and singled to drive in a run for Wisdom. Chad Sirois had two singles and Tony Paradis doubled and drove in a run.

Matt Enman and Dustin Morgan both singled for Limestone/MSSM.

At Presque Isle, Katie Delong had two singles, a double and drove in two runs to lead the Wildcats past the Vikings.

Chelsea Glovins notched three singles and plated two runs for Presque Isle.

Makayla Gahagan hit a two-run double for Caribou.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint racked up three RBIs, all on fielder’s choice plays, and Pam Spooner pitched a three-hitter as the Hornets picked up a key win.

Ashlee Peters and Danielle Long each hit two singles and Long drove in a run. Spooner struck out eight and walked five.

Audrey Charette had an RBI single for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

At Van Buren, Karie Ouellette hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Van Buren the victory.

Ouellette had a triple, double, and three singles to drive in six runs for Van Buren. Macie Laplante singled three times to knock in three runs and Lisa Levessaur had two singles and two RBIs

Sarah Nadeau had two singles and a double with three RBIs for Madawaska. Ashley Cyr hit a double and two singles to knock in two runs and Beth Girard added two singles and an RBI.

At Limestone, Kelsey Towle hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give Fort Fairfield the lead and the eventual win.

Lauren Beckwith had a double and two singles to knock in three runs for Fort Fairfield. Ruth Arato and Brittany Strout both singled three times to drive in two runs.

Lindsey Beaulieu had three singles and three RBIs for Limestone and Kylie Mulherin had two singles and two RBIs. Britany King, Emily O’Neal, and Crystal Silva each singled twice.
