HERMON – This spring, 260 Hermon Elementary School pupils converged on their gymnasium and spent the day jumping rope to raise money for the American Heart Association. There was plenty to jump for that day. The pupils raised more than $12,000 in this annual activity – the best ever for the Hermon event.

Deb Aucoin is the physical education teacher and coordinator of the event. Pupils had been studying physical fitness and cardiovascular health in her physical education classes and concluded their lessons with their annual Jump Rope for Heart event.

Jump Rope for Heart is an event sponsored through the American Heart Association and endorsed by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. This is Hermon Elementary School’s 16th year of participation. The school is nearing the $100,000 mark in contributions to the American Heart Association.
