Basic training
SAN ANTONIO – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Joseph Rice has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base. A graduate of Bangor High School, he is the son of Michael and Penny Rice of Bangor.

GREAT LAKES, Ill. – Navy Seaman Recruit Alisha L. Klecha recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command. She is a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School and the daughter of Joseph Klecha, and step-daughter of Diane Klecha of Veazie.
Advanced training
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Army Sgt. Michael Chavaree Jr. has graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., with authorization to wear the Ranger Tab.
During the 61-day training course, Chavaree proved that he could successfully accomplish the required tasks, which included manuevers in wooded, mountainous and swampy terrains.
Chavaree, a 2001, graduate of Bucksport High School, is a health care specialist and has four years of military service. He is the son of Michael Chavaree of Parkman and Karen Smith of Bucksport.
Deployment
BANGOR – Navy Reserve Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean Jones recently deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom while attached to Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 27, based in Port Huneme, Calif.
Jones’ unit specializes in advance base construction, battle damage repair, contingency engineering, humanitarian assistance and disaster recovery support around the world.
Jones is the son of Carol and Robert Jones of Bangor.
