A Bangor motorist veered off Main Road North in Hampden early Tuesday morning, damaging a utility pole and knocking out power in the area.
Renee Pack, 43, suffered minor injuries according to police and she was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center and later released from the Bangor hospital, a hospital nursing supervisor said.
Pack was heading south on Main Road North near its intersection with Carriage Lane and went off the road, according to police. The motorist could not say what caused her to leave the road, reported Hampden police Officer Ruth Doherty.
The accident knocked down a utility pole, taking with it a transformer and power to the area. Pack’s car was destroyed and Doherty estimated the damage to the utility pole at $3,000.
Brewer police charged a 59-year-old Brewer woman with filing a false public report and misusing an E-911 system this week after they said she repeatedly called the emergency line when there were no emergencies.
Police in Brewer issued warnings to Shirley Isaacson going back to at least January, telling her not to call the police unless she needs them, Sgt. Jason Moffitt of the Brewer Police Department said this week. On Monday, Moffitt said Isaacson called the Penobscot Regional Communications Center from a pay phone outside the Hannaford supermarket, her usual haunt, but Moffitt said she was gone when he arrived.
Later that day, Sgt. Chris Martin and Officer Rodney Gerald went to the supermarket where Isaacson was on the phone to the PRCC and among other things told a dispatcher that two police officers had just driven into the parking lot. Her repeated calls take dispatchers and police away from their duties.
“She goes off and rambles and ties up 911 lines,” Moffitt said.
