Tigers roll by CAHS Fort Fairfield wins 14th game

FORT FAIRFIELD – Kerri Cunningham drove in four runs with a pair of singles to lead the Fort Fairfield Tigers to a 21-14 high school softball victory over the Central Aroostook Panthers Tuesday.

Britteny Strout allowed just two earned runs in six innings of work as the Tigers won their fourth in a row and 14th of the season.

Maryl Harris had three singles and an RBI and Strout, who struck out 11 and walked one, helped her own cause with a double, a single and an RBI.

Destin Larrabee’s two-run single and Kayla Day’s double led Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Nicole St. Pierre doubled for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

At Hodgdon, Katie Beckwith doubled twice, singled twice and drove in three runs to lead Van Buren.

Megan Lajoie chipped in with three singles, a double and two RBIs for the winners. Kelsey Smith and Lisa Levasseur each added two singles.

Tasha Dwyer recorded three singles, a double and three RBIs to lead the Hawks. Jayme Bither added three singles and two RBIs and Sara Brewer singled twice.

Bangor Chr. sweeps Katahdin

At Bangor, Tanisha Vadas walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Bangor Christian to the 8-7 win in the first game. The Patriots also won the second game 14-5.

In the first game, Amber Leathers and Christin Pelletier each doubled for Bangor Christian and Cala Dearborn had two singles.

Brittany Landry had a double and two singles with an RBI for Katahdin of Stacyville. Lindsay Albert doubled and singled to drive in a run and Shelly Martin added two singles.

In the second game, Leathers hit a three-run triple and a single for Bangor Christian. Pelletier had a double and two singles and Annie Babineau added two singles and an RBI.

Ronnie Robinson, Clarissa Gallagher, and Brooke Smallwood each singled for Katahdin.

At Husson College in Bangor, O’Neil Qualey drove in Jordan Qualey in the top of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly to give Katahdin of Stacyville the 7-6 win in the first game over Bangor Christian. The Patriots won the second game 5-4.

In the first game, Jared Anderson hit a two-run home run and a single for Katahdin and Keith Anderson added a three-run triple.

Philip Dougherty doubled and singled for Bangor Christian and Josh Frost hit a two-run single.

In the second game, Willy Hinkley doubled and singled with an RBI for the Patriots and Philip Dougherty added an RBI single.

Patrick Willett hit a solo home run in the third inning for Katahdin and Cameron Cunningham had two RBIs on fielder’s choices. Cameron Cunningham struck out 10.

At Washburn, Isaac Ward’s three-run homer with two outs in the top of the sixth inning capped off a five-run rally that propelled the Hornets to victory.

Brandon Flint added a two-run single during the uprising, which helped Ashland come back from a 3-0 deficit.

Steven Pesut led Washburn with three singles and an RBI while Sam Harris added a solo home run. Ethan Doody had two RBIs on a pair of sacrifice bunts.

At Fort Kent, Tom Desjardins pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks as the Warriors topped the Eagles.

Derek Bonenfant powered Fort Kent with a two-run double while Jeremy Voisine added a two-run single. Adam Jandreau doubled, singled and drove in a run while Daniel Levesque added two singles.

James Dempsey hit a two-run single and Will Barker added an RBI single for Limestone.

At Fort Fairfield, Sam Clockedile’s three-run triple in the top of the seventh broke the game open as Central Aroostook of Mars Hill earned the victory.

Clockedile also singled for the Panthers, while Andrew York hit two doubles and came on in relief of starting pitcher Eric Grivois in the fifth inning to earn the save.

Keith Edgecomb had an RBI double for Fort Fairfield.

At Madawaska, two-run singles by Mark Sirois and Tom Dahlgren keyed a seven-run fifth inning that broke the game open.

Sirois’ two-run triple in the four-run first inning gave Madawaska the lead for good.

Sirois finished with three hits while Billy and Andre Roy each contributed a double, single and an RBI. Scott Chasse doubled.

Paul Roy went the distance for the win, striking out 10 and walking five while scattering six hits.

Randy Thibeault’s double and single and Justin Michaud’s pair of run-scoring singles paced Wisdom.

At Hodgdon, Trevor Hews hit a grand slam, two doubles and two singles to drive in nine runs in the Van Buren victory.

Andy Martin hit a grand slam, a double and a single with five RBIs for Van Buren. Dustin Cyr had a double, two singles, and a solo home run with five RBIs. Lance Smith had three singles and a double with four RBIs and Kyle Chase added two doubles and a single.

Joe Foley hit a two-run double in the fourth inning for Hodgdon.

Rabideau struck out eight and walked two and was helped out by Tim McCarthy’s solo homer and single. Mark Pullen chipped in with a double, two singles and two RBIs and Sam Bowers and Aaron Woodman each had two singles and an RBI.

Mike Julian recorded a solo home run, RBI triple and single for the Red Devils.
