Well Workplace University
BANGOR – Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce will host Well Workplace University, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Four Points Sheraton, 308 Godfrey Blvd.
Kelly Stobbe, director of council affairs for the Wellness Councils of America, will be the keynote speaker on “A Look at the Seven Cs From the Top – The Key to Tying Health Promotion Objectives to Business Outcomes.”
Stobbe is responsible for the development, production and advancement of margin and mission activities among Wellness Councils of America’s nine affiliated wellness councils, of which Bangor is one.
Well Workplace University is an internationally recognized learning opportunity in which business leaders, health care professionals, and wellness practitioners come together to learn the art and science of building world-class work site wellness programs.
Remodeled showroom
BANGOR – Color Concepts Inc., located at 557 Hammond St., will hold the grand reopening of its newly remodeled showroom 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21.
Refreshments will be available, as well as the opportunity to sign up for the $100,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Color Concepts features Benjamin Moore paints, Hunter Douglas blinds, wall coverings and fabrics.
Loans for lead abatement
BANGOR – Penquis CAP Inc. has a small number of Maine State Housing Authority 1 percent loans available for lead abatement in rental buildings built before 1951. Property owners who have low- to moderate-income tenants with children under age 6 may qualify for a loan.
In addition, owners may qualify for a grant of up to $6,000 from the Coalition of Environmentally Safe Communities for units that meet guidelines. All eligible units will be built before 1951, be in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset or Kennebec Counties, have at least half of tenants at or below 80 percent of the median income, and house children under age 6.

University Credit Union
ORONO – University Credit Union has hired Allan Hammond in the newly created position of vice president, credit and call center operations.
Hammond will oversee the overall credit functions of UCU, and develop new commercial and consumer lending programs. He also will work to set up and manage the new UCU Call Center, which is expected to be operational by July 18.
Hammond comes to UCU from Camden National Corp.
The University Credit Union recently received a second place Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility, established to encourage and recognize credit union involvement in community projects and activities.
