A resident of Silver’s trailer park in Veazie had a few choice words for a neighbor who complained about his speeding on Tuesday. Then the motorist, Phillip Edward Lord, 23, had some choice words for the police officer who arrested him.

Before calling police, the neighbor confronted Lord about speeding through the park. Lord’s response was to yell and swear at the man, which continued even when they were about 100 feet apart.

Veazie police Officer Brian Sirois went to talk to Lord who denied speeding but admitted to swearing and yelling, Sirois said Wednesday. The officer gave him a disorderly conduct warning.

During the discussion, Lord volunteered that in looking for his girlfriend earlier, he had visited his girlfriend’s grandmother, even though she had a protection order out against him. He was to have no direct or indirect contact with her.

Sirois arrested Lord for the protection order violation, which prompted another outburst by Lord who was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct.

Bangor police arrested Kerry Hurd, 35, of Bangor on Tuesday after it was reported he assaulted his girlfriend of one month and forcibly took her engagement ring off her finger.

The Ohio Street woman told Bangor police Officer Butch Moor that Hurd had pushed her down on the bed, took the ring off and punched her in the face.

When she tried to call police, Hurd pulled the telephone cord out of the wall, the woman told Moor.

Hurd had left the residence by the time Moor arrive, but later Officer Dennis Townsend found Hurd at his home on the Pushaw Road in Bangor and arrested him on a charge of assault.
