Summer hockey league

BREWER – Youth Summer Hockey League will be held June 23-Aug. 7 at TJ Ryan Arena in Brewer. The 3 on 3 season will run Saturdays, June 25-Aug. 6.

Youth Summer Hockey League games start at 5:30 p.m. or later, with no weekend games. Games are played in 22-minute halves, and each team plays 10 games. Divisions are:

. Mites-Squirts, no slap shots and no checking.

. Peewees-Bantams, slap shots allowed, but no checking.

Advance registration is required by June 15. The cost for the season is $90, and should be sent to Youth Hockey Summer Program, TJ Ryan Arena, P.O. Box 3255, Brewer 04412.

The 3-on-3 season will be held Saturday afternoons, June 25-Aug. 6. Each team has nine players plus one goalie, and the cost for the team is $750. Games are 45 minutes in length.

Advanced registration is required by June 15, and should be sent to TJ Ryan Arena. For information, call 944-8538.

Summer recreation

ORONO – The Orono Parks and Recreation Department is offering many summer activities including track club, basketball camp, golf clinic, soccer camps, field hockey camp, football camp, tennis lessons, karate camp, chess camp, dance workshops, swim lessons and more. Many of the programs have limited space and early registration is suggested.

Golf Scramble

BANGOR – Join the Bangor Y for its annual Corporate Wellness Challenge Golf Tournament to benefit the youth programs at the Bangor Y. Many area businesses are participating and it is open to the public. The event, with a 7 a.m. registration and an 8 a.m. shotgun start, takes place Sunday, June 12, at Hermon Meadows Golf Course. The fee is $250 per four-person team and includes cart, barbecue, awards and team photo. Other activities include a putting contest, closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, and lots of raffle prizes. Boston Red Sox Trips

BANGOR – Join the Bangor Y for this year’s trips to Fenway Park to see the 2004 World Champs.

See the Red Sox play the Minnesota Twins at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, July 31, or choose to see the White Sox at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

Chaperones are available for children 10 years old and older. The evening game includes an overnight at the Y. Both trips include tickets, food, refreshments, snacks and lots of prizes. The cost is $100 per ticket. Seating is limited. Register at the Bangor Y. Call Lance at 941-2815 for information.
