The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced that it has concluded a study on necessary steps to implement a Women-Owned Small Business Contracting Program. The first step in the process will be to define eligibility requirements for being considered a woman-owned business, including items related to ownership, control and economic disadvantage. The agency also will undertake an industry-by-industry study to determine industries in which women owners are underrepresented. After a review of that study, a program to enhance ownership by women will be undertaken.
