Registration is $12 for individuals or $30 for families, and brochures can be obtained or registration made until 6 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Bangor Y or on race day, reports Sean Haggerty, the Bangor Y health and fitness director.

He added that several events are planned for this year, including the Bangor Daily News Family Fun walk “for those who want to take it slow” and the Bacon Printing Recreational Run “for those who want to run to the finish line but don’t qualify to compete in the competitive category.”

Also featured is the W.S. Emerson Competitive Run, “for the experienced runner who meets a qualifying time of seven minutes or under,” and the 92.9 WEZQ-FM three-person family or team competition.

A post-run celebration, with more than $1,000 in awards, prizes and “lots of great giveaways just for participating,” await all at the finish line in West Market Square.

“Whether community members want to compete for the whimsical cowbell trophy, are looking for a great family fun day, want to support the Bangor Y or just want to take home some cool prizes,” Haggerty wrote, “join us for a community event that promotes fun and family regardless of age and ability.”

The two categories are age 12 and under and age 13 and older.

“The design should focus on books, reading, libraries, etc.,” Carter wrote, and the size must be 7 by 21/2 inches.

Written in pencil on the back, each entry should include the artist’s name, address, phone number and age.
