Born in February 1999, Ryan, 6, is a handsome, activity-loving boy. He enjoys playing outdoors and spending time with his foster family.

In addition to enjoying jumping on a trampoline, Ryan likes to play with blocks and is a fan of the “Bob the Builder” television show.

A child who can be very affectionate, Ryan will do best with skilled, energetic parents who have some knowledge about childhood developmental delays. Ryan knows sign language as a second form of communication.

Ryan has spent most of his life in his current foster home. Ryan has enjoyed good interactions with older children, but it has been determined that due to Ryan’s behaviors, he needs to be the youngest child in the family. Ryan is aggressive with children younger than himself. He is impulsive and requires much supervision.

Ryan has substantial developmental challenges, which require that he receives ongoing special services at home and at school.

Ryan came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in May 1999 with his older brother Michael, who since has been placed in an adoptive home. Ryan and Michael maintain contact through telephone conversations and occasional visits.

Ongoing contact between the siblings is encouraged and should be maintained following Ryan’s adoption.

Adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family.

Ryan is one of 226 Maine children currently in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family. For more information about Ryan or other children available for adoption, please contact A Family for ME at 1-877-505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
