While the sun has finally peeked out from behind those clouds that have overshadowed us, you may still be suffering from the rainy day blues. That’s why the New Renaissance Singers have a message for you.

“Come hear us!

“Let us help you shed the doldrums of wet, rainy weather with a promise of spring sunshine with some lively and happy music,” wrote Bill Shook of Bangor.

The New Renaissance Singers invite you to their annual spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Brick Church on the corner of Union and Main streets in Bangor.

The nine singers, directed by Laura Green-Estey and accompanied by Yvonne Drake, have prepared a wonderful program.

Shook reports the concert, “Voices of Spring,” will include “American spirituals, Gershwin favorites, Rogers and Hammerstein works, and selections from ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ ‘The Music Man’ and Stephen Foster, plus some great piano solos” featuring Drake.

The male and female singers, together since 1991, consider this concert “the best cure for the blahs brought on by clouds and rain,” Shook wrote. “So shed your umbrellas and rain coats and surround yourselves with some bright, warm harmony. We love what we do, and we think you’ll see that it shows.”

The concert is free, but a suggested donation of $5 would be most appreciated.

Kelly Daniels of St. John’s Episcopal Church on French Street in Bangor called with information I know will be a tremendous disappointment to many readers.

Don Hanson of Green Acres Kennel Shop is hosting a seminar on Pet Nutrition at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, and Thursday, June 16, at the kennel on Union Street in Bangor.

The seminar will focus on “the overwhelming and often contradictory information” about diets for the average dog and cat, he wrote.

Seating for the seminar is limited, so it is suggested you register in advance. While there is no charge, you are asked to reserve your seat with a minimum $5 donation to the Bangor Humane Society Shed and Emily Fund.

Reserve your space with your check mailed to Green Acres Kennel Shop, 1653 Union St., Bangor 04401.
