ELLSWORTH – Three Lamoine residents have been indicted for their alleged roles in a string of burglaries at businesses, municipal offices and schools in more than a dozen Hancock County towns.
Robert G. Gray Jr., 20, faces 62 charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Mandy J. Latchaw, 23, is charged with 22 counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief, while Shane Ladeau, 22, is charged with 16 counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
The indictments were handed down Tuesday by a Hancock County grand jury.
According to Deputy District Attorney Carletta Bassano, Latchaw and Ladeau are accused of sometimes joining Gray during burglaries that occurred between November 2003 and April 2004 all over Hancock County. Other times, Gray went alone, she said.
Bassano said Gray was searching for money. He allegedly took thousands of dollars in cash, including $4,500 from a Franklin municipal building and $4,000 from a Southwest Harbor business. At other places, he took as little as $20, she said.
