BAR HARBOR – Principal Sally Leighton has announced the honor parts for the 37th commencement at Mount Desert Island High School. Graduation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12.
Alison Foley Hudson, daughter of Hilary and Steven Hudson of Southwest Harbor, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2005. She will attend Lawrence University and Music Conservatory in Wisconsin.
She has been involved in the school band, jazz band and with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. She attended the Atlantic Brass Quintet’s seminar the past three summers. She has taught skiing and snowboarding and participated in a Walk ME Home fund-raiser for Shaw House.
Christopher Gray, son of Rebecca and James Gray of Southwest Harbor, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2005. He will attend Bowdoin College to study music, art and science.
He has been involved with musical theater, jazz band, show choir, chorus and symphonic band. He plays the drum set and balaphone, a West African xylophone. He has been active in his church youth group and has played with the Ellsworth Community Band since 1999. He has received the Mitchell Institute Scholarship.
