Henry leads Eagles past Shiretowners

BLUE HILL – Collin Henry fired a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking only one as top-seeded George Stevens Academy eliminated No. 8 Houlton 8-0 in Class C baseball quarterfinal action Wednesday.

Ross Gallagher had two singles and two RBIs for the Eagles while Blake Wessel singled, doubled and knocked in a run. Dan Larry had two singles with one RBI and Josh Asbury had a single and another RBI.

Ian Pasquarelli singled twice for the Shiretowners.

At Eastport, Josh Francis knocked an RBI double while Derek Maloney hit an RBI single to lead the second-seeded Tigers to the win.

Francis added a single and Maloney a double and Aaron Sullivan had two singles and a triple for Shead.

Alan Austin hit two RBI doubles for the No. 10 Bulldogs and Chase Ross notched two singles.

At Husson College in Bangor, Sam Merrill stroked a two-run single to spark a three-run first inning for the Trojans.

Marcus Maffucci and Matt Grover each singled for No. 5 Mount Desert Island.

Cody Andrews, Nick Hubbard and Hunter Umphrey had a single apiece for the No. 4 Crusaders.

Greenville 7, Forest Hills 2

At Jackman, Eric Driscoll tripled and doubled driving in two runs as the fifth seeded Lakers defeated fourth seeded Forest Hills in a Western Maine Class D quarterfinal.

David Aucoin added two singles and an RBI for Greenville.

Zach Achey singled three times for the Tigers, while Steven Achey had two singles and one RBI.

At Calais, Jody Pinkham had an RBI single, then Kayla Higgins had an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning to break a 4-4 tie as the eighth-seeded Tigers upset top-ranked and previously unbeaten Calais.

Pinkham finished with two singles and an RBI. Nicole Leach added two singles, while Jessica Daley struck out 13 and walked two in a complete-game effort for Sumner of East Sullivan.

Steph Perry singled twice and brought in one run for the Blue Devils. Chrissy Driscoll and Danielle O’Brien each had two singles.
